Effects of the laser surface treatment on the mechanical properties of CuZr-based bulk metallic glasses

Surfaces of three types of CuZr-based bulk metallic glasses (BMGs) were modified by laser surface treatment (LST), and the influence of the treatment on structure and mechanical properties of these alloys was investigated. The phase structure of as-cast and laser-treated samples was characterized by XRD and the morphology of the alloys after fracture was examined by SEM. The compressive plasticity of treated Cu47.5Zr47.5Al5 and Cu46.5Zr47.5Al5Co1 BMGs can be improved from 0.5% to 2.0% and from 1.2% to 5.7% respectively compared with the as-cast ones, while (Cu0.55Zr0.40Al0.05)99Er1 BMG shows insignificant change of plasticity. The improvement in plasticity is attributed to induced crystallization of B2 CuZr phase in the treated surface zone of selected metallic glasses.     

Synthesis and selective recognition toward zinc ion of chiral poly(imine‐triazole)

A novel AB type of clickable monomer, (S)‐2‐[(2‐azido‐1‐phenylethylimino)methyl]‐5‐propargyloxyphenol (AMPP) was designed and polymerized to yield a class of main‐chain chiral poly(imine‐triazole)s through the metal‐free click reaction. With the thermally induced polymerization, the desired polytriazoles can be easily prepared in high yields by a stepwise heating‐up process and have the number‐average molecular masses ranging from 5.1 × 10³ to 58.1 × 10³ (polydispersity indices = 1.38?1.68). The polymers were characterized by Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), ¹H Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR), and gel permeation chromatography, and their optical properties were studied by fluorescence and circular dichroism (CD) spectroscopies. As a chemosensor, these polymers exhibited a selective “turn‐on” fluorescence enhancement response toward Zn²⁺ ion over other cations such as Na⁺, K⁺, Mg²⁺, Ca²⁺, Ag⁺, Pb²⁺, Cd²⁺, Hg²⁺, Mn²⁺, and Ni²⁺ in dimethyl sulfoxide. However, the Zn²⁺‐induced fluorescence signal was subject to serious interference by Al³⁺, Cu²⁺, Cr³⁺, and Fe³⁺ ions. Interestingly, the chiral polymer showed distinctive changes in the CD spectra on complexation with Zn²⁺, which allowed for the discrimination of this ion in the presence of other species tested including those interfering ions observed in the fluorescent detection. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Rhodium(I)‐Catalyzed Decarbonylative Spirocyclization through C?C Bond Cleavage of Benzocyclobutenones: An Efficient Approach to Functionalized Spirocycles

The rhodium‐catalyzed formation of all‐carbon spirocenters involves a decarbonylative coupling of trisubstituted cyclic olefins and benzocyclobutenones through C C activation. The metal–ligand combination [{Rh(CO)₂Cl}₂]/P(C₆F₅)₃ catalyzed this transformation most efficiently. A range of diverse spirocycles were synthesized in good to excellent yields and many sensitive functional groups were tolerated. A mechanistic study supports a hydrogen‐transfer process that occurs through a β‐H elimination/decarbonylation pathway.     

Mechanical properties and thermal conductivity of the twisted graphene nanoribbons

Molecular dynamics method was used to simulate the twists of four GNRs (graphene nanoribbons), two AGNRs (armchair GNRs), and two ZGNRs (zigzag GNRs). Thermal conductivity of the length-fixing GNRs under torsion and at high temperature was calculated. It is found that the ZGNRs have better torsional rigidity than the AGNRs; under the torsional deformation of 34.2°/nm local buckling occurs in the length-fixing GNRs, and under the deformation of 22.8°/nm overall buckling occurs in the ones with free-length. In the range of investigated twist-angle and temperature, the thermal conductivity of the length-fixing GNRs decreases with the increase of torsional deformation and temperature. The wider GNRs have better anti-torsion capability and thermal conductivity.     

微波法制备CaMoO4:Tb3+,Eu3+白色荧光粉及其发光性能研究

通过微波法制备了CaMoO4:Tb3+,Eu3+白色荧光粉.采用X射线粉末衍射仪、扫描电子显微镜和荧光光谱仪对样品材料的结构、形貌和发光性能进行了表征.分别讨论了在不同助剂、不同反应浓度、不同反应温度及稀土离子Eu3+和Tb3+共掺比例变化对荧光粉的发光性能的影响.结果表明:不加活性剂所得CaMoO4:Tb3+,Eu3+样品在反应浓度为0.06 mol/L、反应温度为120℃时发光性能最好;通过调节CaMoO4:Tb3+,Eu3+荧光粉中稀土离子Eu3+和Tb3+共掺比例荧光粉的发光颜色可以很容易地从冷白光变为暖白光.     

A [001]-Oriented Hittorf's Phosphorus Nanorods/Polymeric Carbon Nitride Heterostructure for Boosting Wide-Spectrum-Responsive Photocatalytic Hydrogen Evolution from Pure Water

Red phosphorus is a promising photocatalyst with wide visible-light absorption up to 700 nm, but the fast charge recombination limits its photocatalytic hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) activity. Now, [001]-oriented Hittorf's phosphorus (HP) nanorods were successfully grown on polymeric carbon nitride (PCN) by a chemical vapor deposition strategy. Compared with the bare PCN and HP, the optimized PCN@HP hybrid exhibited a significantly enhanced photocatalytic activity, with HER rates reaching 33.2 and 17.5 μmol h⁻¹ from pure water under simulated solar light and visible light irradiation, respectively. It was theoretically and experimentally indicated that the strong electronic coupling between PCN and [001]-oriented HP nanorods gave rise to the enhanced visible light absorption and the greatly accelerated photoinduced electron–hole separation and transfer, which benefited the photocatalytic HER performance.     

Palladium complexes bearing an N‐heterocyclic carbene–sulfonamide ligand for cooligomerization of ethylene and polar monomers

Herein, we report the synthesis of palladium complexes bearing an N‐heterocyclic carbene (NHC)‐sulfonamide bidentate ligand and their application in ethylene oligomerization and ethylene/polar monomer cooligomerization. These catalysts could smoothly catalyze ethylene oligomerization and ethylene/methyl acrylate cooligomerization albeit the performance was lower compared to that of a NHC–phenoxide catalyst. © 2018 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
